Knight's Martial Arts was founded by Sifu Alexander Knight. Sifu Knight is a black belt with over thirty years of competitive, training, and teaching experience. His passion for improving physical fitness, mental discipline, and spiritual strength is apparent in every class he teaches. Sifu Knight has been a positive influence in the lives of many. His ability to reach children and adults alike has earned him the title 'teacher of teachers' by his martial arts peers. Sifu Knight's students operate schools across the US.
Sifu Knight has been involved with martial arts his entire life. As a child, he was taught the fundamentals of self-defense by his father, a US army drill sergeant. At five years of age, Sifu Knight was a YMCA regional wrestling champion, and then a competitive AAU wrestler. In Junior High, an undefeated wrestler, at which time he turned to classical Chinese martial arts (Shaolin, Shuai Chiao) to improve his skills and for personal development. He earned his first degree black belt from Grandmaster Chang Tung Sheng in 1983. Grandmaster Chang was China's highest ranked, undefeated kung fu master in full contact Kwai-Jiao (fighting-wrestling with no protection). Since 1983, Sifu Knight has participated in full-contact competitions with throws, trained teachers who established their own schools, brought teams to national and international tournaments for competitions and demonstrations, and judged nationally and internationally.
Sifu Knight, besides kung fu, also teaches tai chi chuan and qigong. His approach to martial arts involves a commitment to health, personal character and physical and mental strength. His personal respect for and respectful treatment of students has earned him the loyalty and commitment of many long-term students.
